How FLAX Began
The FLAX story began in the early 1990s, when two sisters set out to design clothing made from natural fibers and shaped with comfort in mind. Their early linen pieces quickly found an audience who appreciated quality, ease, and clothing meant to last.
As FLAX grew, so did the team behind it. Many dedicated people helped guide the brand—strengthening relationships with fabric mills, shaping the collections, and expanding the company's reach. Their steady leadership helped FLAX become the thoughtful, values-driven brand it is today.
Our European Linen Commitment
A defining part of our foundation was our decision to partner with worker- and women-owned factories in Lithuania. Built on shared ethics, trust, and craftsmanship, these partnerships have endured for more than thirty years.
Our linen is sourced from Europe and often custom-woven for us, and every dye, softener, and finishing material we use meets the highest EU REACH standards—including the strict prohibition of harmful aromatic amines.

When Red Onion Clothing in Central New York joined the FLAX story, that connection deepened. What began with listening to customers became a meaningful collaboration rooted in dialogue, fit feedback, and thoughtful design direction. That partnership eventually brought the brand into its current chapter.

Today, FLAX is proudly women-owned and women-led, carrying forward a brand shaped by the hands, expertise, and voices of many throughout its history. We continue producing in our trusted Lithuanian factories and remain dedicated to relaxed, inclusive fit—offering styles from Petite through Generous (approximately sizes 4/6 through 24/26).
